More than 5,000 students successfully complete exams

A total of 187,335 candidates took 370,715 papers in ACCA's June 2009 exams session. This compares with 182,449 students taking a total of 365,528 papers in December 2008.

The exam results, issued on 17 August 2009, revealed that 5,416 students successfully completed their final examinations to become ACCA affiliates.

'We are delighted to see that the ACCA Qualification is maintaining steady growth, particularly in the current global economic environment and that it continues to be well received by employers, tuition providers and candidates,' said Clare Minchington, ACCA executive director - learning and customer service.

'There has been a notable improvement in the pass rate for the Performance Management paper (F5) this session, which is a positive development. This follows on from initiatives that we put in place for this paper, including focused "train the trainer" resources. We are delighted with the results of these efforts.

'While student performances in many papers were in line with expectations, there were also some disappointing results. We will be discussing a range of possible measures and initiatives with tuition providers to further enhance support to our students, through ACCA's regional heads of education and "train the trainer" activities.'

The pass rates for the June 2009 sitting of the ACCA Qualification are as follows:
